Governing Model
Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML) is a legal person governed by private law and public administrative utility, under the terms of its Statutes, approved by Decree-Law no. 235/2008, of December 3rd, and amended by Decree-Law no. 114/2011 and no. 67/2015 and by Law no. 53/2018.
MANAGEMENT BODIES
Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa administration of is composed by the President and the Board.
President
Appointed by joint order of the Prime Minister and the member of the Government who exercises supervison of SCML, for a period of 3 years, he represents the institution and chairs the meetings of theBoard, the Institutional Board and the Games Board, as well as the directors meetings of Sant’Ana Orthopedic Hospital and Alcoitão Rehabilitation Medicine Center.
Board
Composed of the President, the Vice-President and four Members, it is responsible for preparing the activity plans and budgets, the management reports and accounts, the definition of guidelines and the purposes to be achieved by the departments and services and the preparation of internal regulations and standards, hiring personnel and authorizing the acquisition of goods and services, as well as creating, transforming or extinguishing the Institution’s equipment.
FISCAL BODIES

Audit Board
The Audit Board is composed of a representative of the Ministry of Finance, who presides over it, a representative of the ministry responsible for SCML and a statutory auditor also appointed by the supervisory entity.
ADVISORY BODIES

Institutional Board
The Institutional Board is an advisory entity chaired by the provider and composed of 9 other members appointed by the entities represented on it for a period of three years.

Gaming Board
The Gaming Board is an advisory entity with 9 non-remunerated members, appointed by the entities represented in it, chaired by the President.
